Themenperspektive | Thematic Perspective

Sammlungen, Bibliotheken und Archive können als diskursive Formationen verstanden werden, in deren jeweiliger Spezifik sich kulturelle Zusammenhänge beobachten lassen; sie bilden zentrale Orte vielschichtiger sozialer Interaktionen und kulturhistorischer Prozesse. Unter dieser Voraussetzung will der Kongress ‚Musik-Sammlungen’ im Kontext kultureller Erinnerung thematisieren und die Strukturen solcher Archive im Blick auf den interkulturellen Diskurs zwischen dem deutschsprachigen Raum und dem östlichen Europa untersuchen. Dabei sollen nicht allein Sammlungen mit den traditionell beachteten Bestandsgütern der Musica practica und theoretica Berücksichtigung finden, sondern alle Arten musikbezogener Medien-, Dokumenten- und Archivalienkollektionen in den Blick genommen werden. | Collections, libraries and archives can be understood as discursive formations, and cultural associations can be observed in the specific features of each of them; they represent central locations of social interactions and cultural-historical processes taking place at a multitude of different levels. Under this aspect, the congress wishes to treat ‚Music Collections’ in the context of cultural remembrance as its theme, and investigate the structures of such archives with a view to the intercultural discourse between German-speaking areas and Eastern Europe. Within this scope it is not intended solely to consider the collections with regard to the traditionally investigated stocks of musica practica and theoretica, but rather all types of music-related collections of media, documents and archives.

In den Beständen von Musiksammlungen und Archiven dokumentieren sich vielfältige kulturelle Interferenzen und Migrationsbewegungen. Vor diesem Hintergrund soll heute zunächst der Frage nach den Konstitutionsmechanismen – den Entstehungsbedingungen, den Funktionen, den Trägern und dem Repertoire – einzelner Sammlungen nachgegangen werden. | Music collections and archives document diverse cultural influences and migration movements. The constituting mechanisms – the conditions at the time of creation, the functions, the trustees and the repertoire – of the individual collections are to be examined in greater detail against this backdrop today.

Im Kontext gesellschaftlicher Veränderungen sind auch Sammlungen und Archivbestände mannigfaltigen Transformationen ausgesetzt, durch die deren Charakter sich oftmals tief greifend wandelt. Nicht selten wird die Sammlung selbst dabei zum ‚Migrationsgut’. Diese Verschiebungen tangieren auch das Verhältnis von Erinnern und Vergessen, das Verständnis von kulturellen Wertigkeiten und den Umgang mit Speicherprozessen. Thematisiert werden an diesem Tage die Geschichten einzelner Sammlungen im Prozess ihrer Umstrukturierung sowie Versuche der Rekonstruktion ihrer Bestände. | In the context of social changes, collections and archive materials are also subject to a great variety of transformations which often cause extensive alterations in their character. The collection itself often becomes a ‚record of migration’. These shifts also affect the relationship between remembering and forgetting, the understanding of cultural values and how memory processes are dealt with. The history of individual collections in the course of their restructuring as well as attempts to reconstruct their elements will be discussed on this day.

In ihrer jeweiligen Konstitution und Transformation lassen Musik-Sammlungen verschiedenartige Grenzziehungen erkennen, die unmittelbar mit Prozessen der Identitäts- und Alteritätsbildung verbunden sind. Gefragt wird in dieser Perspektive heute schließlich nach den spezifischen Strategien soziokultureller Distinktion und Identifikation, nach nationalen, internationalen und globalen Beziehungsgefügen und den dort jeweils verhandelten Wertevorstellungen. | The individual constitution and transformation of music collections reveal the drawing of various boundary lines directly linked to processes of identity formation and adaptation. And finally, a closer look is taken today at the specific strategies of sociocultural distinction and identification as well as national, international and global networks of relationships and the various value concepts found within them from this perspective.
